Transnational Skills – The Global Currency

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

We live in a world that is constantly evolving. Globalization, defined as interconnectedness, is not going to stop and the changes in the nature of jobs available, skills required, technology and the mobility of labor – both now and in the future – will only increase. We, therefore, have to provide for a fresh proposition for shaping the global workforce, a proposition that is as mobile and transportable as people and one that has a recognizable and usable currency no matter where it is applied. This currency is what can be referred to as Transnational Skills Standards (TnSS).

Understanding skill requirements of countries, and collaboration among countries in skill building and mobility is essential for developing TnSS – a universal set of competency standards, setting a benchmark and developing a common-currency, that will make the global labor market function more efficiently, provide employment opportunities, increase productivity, create wealth and foster the security of our planet. A variety of national approaches to raising standards in the IT-BPM sector and highlighting the challenges in making effective cross-border comparisons is the need of the hour.

The session shall focus on
- Skills in demand: India vs other countries
- Job roles / functions at entry level in the IT-BPM sector in India vs other countries
- How can Occupational Analysis help in addressing skill shortage
- Skill mobility among countries
